Swindon Urban Sketchers’ last sketch-up of the year is at Arclite House, the glass cigar building between the Nissan showroom and the lake. They drew it about a year ago when it stood empty. Studio BRUT has moved in since, so this one is the before-and-after, and the heating works now.

Bring a sketchbook and whatever you draw with. If the day is fine you can sketch outside on the lakeside. Bring some Christmas tuck too, mince pies and the like, and we will make an afternoon of it.

Cricklade Camera Club are invited as well, photographing the building and the sketchers at work. Nobody has to be in a photo: tell the photographers, or wear a post-it note and they will leave you out.

Getting there

Car: Century Road, Peatmoor, Swindon SN5 5YN. Keep the public car park on your left, go past the barrier and park in front of the building. The entrance is in the middle. Large car park on site, free.

Bus: from Fleming Way stop G in town take the 1B and get off at Bishopdale Close. Nine minutes’ walk along the footpath beside Peatmoor Way.
