Sophie Boyce

I am a self-taught artist who fails to specialise in anything. I bounce between different mediums and styles, including kinusaiga, paper and fabric collage, crochet, printing, drawing, painting and whatever else I feel drawn to at the time.

Why I am an outsider artist

I gave up art at school after being made to feel inadequate by teachers equating lack of skill with lack of effort, and feeling like I had no skill because I hadn't found it yet. It took me years to come back to art and realise we all have creative skills, and that creating is good for all of us.
